MIAMI _ Lamar Smith absorbed countless hits during his career-high 40-carry, 209-yard effort in Saturday's 23-17 playoff victory over Indianapolis. And teammates couldn't resist mobbing him after his game-winning, 17-yard touchdown run.

Starting on Monday, however, Smith will be handled with much more care.

As heroic as Smith's grueling two-touchdown effort was, there now must be measured concern for his health. The Dolphins next play in Oakland at 4 p.m. Saturday in a divisional playoff game.
