MIAMI _ Bobby Bowden announced Friday he will quit coaching as soon as he starts losing.

Which means when, exactly? Never?

The 71-year-old Florida State coach is gunning for his second consecutive national title, his third overall, when the third-ranked Seminoles meet No. 1 Oklahoma on Wednesday night in the Orange Bowl.

Whether he wins or loses that game, Bowden said he has no intention of stepping down afterward.

"People ask me, `When do you plan to get out, or if you won this game would you get out?"" Bowden said. "My thinking is, No. 1, I have no desire to quit coaching, and as long as I can stay healthy I want to coach_unless we start …
