ATLANTA _ Georgia Tech officials have begun discussions that could make head coach George O'Leary a member of the million-dollar club.
Tech athletics director Dave Braine has been in negotiations with Jack Reale, O'Leary's Atlanta-based agent, to bring O'Leary's salary up to the level of some of his well-paid peers.
O'Leary, 45-27 in his six seasons with the Yellow Jackets, signed a six-year, rollover contract worth an estimated $700,000 annually in 1998. But in recent weeks, Clemson's Tommy Bowden and Auburn's Tommy Tuberville have agreed to contract extensions worth more than $1.1 million a year.
