Nov. 21--SPORTS AUTHORITY: STRUGGLING RETAILER POSTS OPERATING PROFIT: Despite posting a loss, The Sports Authority's (TSA) third-quarter results included some encouraging trends.
The Lauderdale Lakes sporting goods retailer posted an operating profit of $374,000, compared with an operating loss of $13.7 million for the same period last year.
The improvement came from an increase in sales, reduction in expenses and improvement in gross profit.
Sports Authority reported a 5 percent increase in comparable store sales for the quarter, considered the best measure of a retailer's health.
