Nov. 1--American Airlines Thursday touted its 7-year-old Miami hub as an engine that creates thousands of jobs and pumps billions of dollars into the local economy.
American and its regional partner American Eagle directly and indirectly support more than 114,000 jobs, or 9.8 percent of the area's total employment, according to a study commissioned by the airline.
"Our hub makes a very large economic contribution, which we have now quantified," said Robert Crandall, American's chairman.
