Jul. 29--Selling products overseas is complicated stuff, adding tariffs, currency exchange rates and language barriers to the normal difficulties of making a sale.
Even when a deal goes right, it can come from an unexpected angle. Just ask Macon Manufacturing, which makes Gandy pool tables and National Tournament chalk and sells them around the world.
Recently, the company has seen a boost in sales in South Korea because of counterfeiters.
"There were a lot of problems there with imitations of (another major brand) chalk," said Sandy Taylor, a sales and customer service representative at Macon Manufacturing. "They're looking for something that can be certified as U.S. -- made."
