Jul. 24--Joe White politely but emphatically makes sure you know that his company, Chem-Trol Inc., is not in the lawn-care business.
Not that White, a Wichita native, has anything against lawns. He spent 11 years taking care of them.
But the former rodeo bull and bareback bronc rider now deals in industrial-strength vegetationcontrol. His company controls weeds along pipelines, highway rights-of-way, storage lots, electrical substations and parking lots.
White is manager of Chem-Trol's Wichita regional office, at 925 E. 17th. The office is one of five regional offices operated by privately held Chem- Trol. The 32-year-old company is based in Kansas City, Kan.
The Wichita division, which employs 10 people, controls weeds and brush for industrial customers in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and eastern Colorado.
