Sixteen substance abuse and mental health providers in the Santa Fe area of New Mexico will soon find themselves in a new position: compete supervision and implementation of comprehensive services for about 5,000 clients.
The providers have banded together into an entity called Region 2 Behavioral Health Providers Inc. and have just won a contract under New Mexico's new managed behavioral care system for the uninsured, called the Regional Care Coordination Plan (RCCP)(see ADAW March 6).
As a Regional Care Coordinator (RCC) under the plan, the Region 2 Behavioral Health Providers Inc. will be responsible for a comprehensive array of services, including determination of individual eligibility, development of new services, quality management, utilization review, payment processes, and the reporting of performance measures.
