May 2--Madison Gas and Electric Co. is asking state regulators for permission to increase its electricity and natural gas rates nearly 6.5 percent overall.
If approved, the average residential electric customer will have to pay another $3.76 a month to a total of $65.43 a month, while a typical natural gas bill will go up $2.91, to $60.54 a month.
