Paradise Township, Pa., Motel Is Closed for Unsafe Water Nitrate Levels.

Oct. 8--A Paradise Township motel has been ordered to shut down for the second time in a week over unsafe levels of nitrates in its water.

And this time, the Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant's doors will stay closed "indefinitely," a state Department of Environmental Protection spokeswoman said Monday.

DEP Regional Director Michael Steiner on Wednesday revoked a permit for the 47-room motel and restaurant at 312 Paradise Lane.

A September lab test showed the motel's water had a nitrate level of 22.8 milligrams per liter after treatment, more than double the amount allowed by state and federal standards.
