ALIEN VS. PREDATOR 1 { stars. It's like a cinematic Wrestlemania. Two film heavies, the slimy Aliens and the dreadlocked Predators, face off in Antartica. The human characters_and your interest_get lost in the crossfire. PG-13 (violence, gore, profanity, horror) _ David Hiltbrand.

AMERICA'S HEART & SOUL 2 { stars. The type of pic that usually plays on Imax screens at museums and theme parks, this flag-waving celebration of America is a pumped-up, plotless montage of extraordinary landscapes, colorful wildlife and "ordinary" people performing feats of derring-do. ANACONDAS: THE HUNT FOR THE BLOOD ORCHID 2 stars. A lower-budget, no-star (save Morris Chestnut) sequel to the 1997 giant snake scare pic, this one takes place in the jungles of Borneo, where an expedition in search of a rare flower meets up with many large and famished reptiles. PG-13 (violence, profanity, giant snakes) _ Steven Rea.

ANATOMY OF HELL 1 star. A two-character study of sexual degradation, humiliation and existential despair from French filmmaker Catherine Breillart. The mercifully short, brutally explicit pic stars Amira Casar as a nameless woman who hires a gloomy gay guy (porn star Rocco Siffredi) to "look" at her. Things get rough_especially for the filmgoer. No MPAA rating (explicit sexual acts, profanity, violence, adult themes) _ Steven Rea.

ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY 3 stars. Will Ferrell stars as a local anchorman in 1970s San Diego, sporting bad suits and big hair, and having to contend with an ambitious newswoman (Christina Applegate) who upends his swingin' male chauvinist world. Like a feature-length "SNL" sketch, some jokes work, some don't, but the picture remains amiably wacky throughout. PG-13 (sexual humor, profanity, cartoon violence) _ Steven Rea.

BAADASSSS! 3 stars. Mario Van Peebles plays his father, filmmaker Melvin, in this sobering and wildly entertaining account of the making of the elder Van Peebles' 1971 guerrilla film, "Sweet Sweetback's Baadassss Song." R (nudity, sex, drugs, violence, profanity) _ Carrie Rickey.
