KANSAS CITY, Mo. _ Contractors and craftspeople are pining for a new kind of wood _ Lyptus.
The hybrid of two eucalyptus species was introduced last year to the national market.
Woodworker John Noel recently made conference tables using solid Lyptus and Lyptus veneer for 360 Architecture in Kansas City. The project was his first using the trademarked wood.
"It has a beautiful grain like mahogany," says Noel, owner of Noel Designs in Kansas City. "We're anxious to use it more often."
