Sep. 29--The deadly Asian bird flu may have spread from one person to another for the first time this year, health officials said yesterday, raising concerns that the virus may have mutated and become more contagious among humans.

A 26-year-old Thai woman who died of the illness last week is believed to have caught it from her daughter, putting public health officials around the world on alert.
