Sep. 27--EARTH FARE DELAYS CHARLOTTE OPENING: When the Asheville-based Earth Fare supermarket chain last spoke publicly about its plans to build a store at the Toringdon development in the Ballantyne area, its opening date was summer 2004.

Now that the fall equinox is past, it's clear the store has a bit further to go.

Last week, spokeswoman Tracy Schneider said she couldn't pin down an opening date, but said in a statement that construction is "moving along nicely." Her best guess, she added, is that it will be sometime in December.
