Arianna Savall makes a much stronger impression here than in her first release, Sopra la Rosa (Mirare), probably because this disc is a more completely integrated expression of her spiritual and musical aesthetic. Savall, who possesses an ingratiating gossamer-weight soprano, is also a talented composer and harpist. All the selections here were either composed or arranged by her, and she accompanies herself throughout (with spicy enhancements from Dimitris Psonis, Pedro Estevan and Julio Andrade on exotic percussion and double bass.) The texts, all sung in Savall's native Catalan, are redolent of sensual and comforting images of nature as they celebrate the joys of living life moment to moment.
