THE STORY
ACT I. As a storm rages, Siegmund the Walsung, exhausted from his escape from enemies in the forest, stumbles into an unfamiliar house for shelter and collapses on the hearth. Sieglinde, wife of the house, finds the stranger, and the two feel an immediate attraction. But they are soon interrupted by the return of Sieglinde's husband, Hunding, who asks the stranger who he is.
