Q: I recently spilled hot wax from a scented candle on my granite counter top. I was able to scrape the wax off, but the area of the spill remains dull looking. I have tried all sorts of polishes and cleaners, but to no avail. The spill area still remains dull and cloudy. I was wondering if you had any suggestion to restore the shine.
A: Stone restorers Tom McNall of Huron Park, Ontario, and Maurizio Bertoli of Folcroft, Pa., said the cloudiness is caused by the granite having absorbed some of the wax and oils from the candle.
