Q: Many years ago, I grew "cut and come again" spinach. Is this a special seed, or could I cut any spinach and have it regrow again all summer long? _Alice Curia
A: You can prolong the harvesting season of any spinach by employing the cut-and-come-again method _ instead of harvesting the whole plant, just pick the outer leaves when they are ready. The young inner leaves will grow, to be cut a few days later, succeeded by another set. But don't be surprised if this lasts only so long. Summer heat will more than likely make the plants bolt, or send up flowering stems.
