It would be a good rule if romantic comedies were forced to postpone the first kiss for an hour, as "The Prince and Me" does.
The result of that postponement is we believe in the relationship between Julia Stiles, as a college student from Wisconsin, and Luke Mably, as a mildly snooty Danish prince pretending to be an average student, because we've seen it develop. We know they were friends first, that they have common interests, that they have plans with which romance might interfere and that they have good hearts.
