On baseball: Piazza sees better days ahead.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. _ Mike Piazza returned from the batting cage on a recent morning to discover that one of Florida's famous downpours had found its way through the roof of the New York Mets clubhouse.
A steady leak in front of his locker forced Piazza to gather his belongings and move across the clubhouse. A nuisance? Sure. But Piazza wasn't about to complain. He dealt with so many of those figurative rainy days last year that a real one couldn't get him down.
"I'm in a better place mentally now," the 35-year-old perennial all-star said. "Last year was so frustrating on a lot of levels. I've come back feeling rejuvenated."
Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Piazza ...
