MILWAUKEE _ Marquette University men's basketball special assistant Trey Schwab, recovering from a double-lung transplant, suffered a major setback Monday morning that required emergency open-heart surgery at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison.
Schwab, 39, suffered a massive pulmonary embolism _ or a blocked artery in his lungs caused by a blood clot _ early in the morning. He was immediately operated on by doctors, who removed the clot, and was then listed in critical condition with a guarded prognosis.
