DALLAS _ Crude oil prices jumped Monday to their highest levels since the war in Iraq a year ago, sending gasoline prices to near-record levels well before the year's peak demand period.

Tight supplies across the market have sparked fears of a volatile spring and summer for motorists.

A global economic recovery could give the markets one of their biggest tests in years, as U.S. refiners try to meet consumers' demand heading into the summer.
