What's it like to live in a far-off place most of us see only on a vacation? Foreign Correspondence is an interview with someone who has lived in a spot you may want to visit. Michele Rizzo, 30, has been living for a year in St. John, the main town on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. The Philadelphia native owns First Floor Bookstore there.

Q. Ready for tourist season?

A. After the holidays is when it officially begins. Prices definitely change for hotels and restaurants. Visitors usually are here for a week or so. Others come off the cruise ships; they're over for the day from another island.
