HOUSTON _ For the second time in three years, Adam Vinatieri kicked a game-winning field goal to bring the NFL championship to the New England Patriots.
Vinatieri hit a 41-yard kick with 4 seconds left Sunday, and the Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers 32-29 in Super Bowl XXXVIII.
The Patriots were pushed to such a finish when the Panthers scored a tying touchdown with 1:08 left.
