WASHINGTON _ Bowing to political pressure, President Bush will create a special commission this week to investigate intelligence failures in Iraq and elsewhere, a senior administration official said Sunday.
The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Bush would issue an executive order within days creating a panel to look at the failure of intelligence agencies to adequately gauge the threat of weapons of mass destruction.
Although much of the focus will be on Iraq, where intelligence reports overstated the risk, the panel will also look at intelligence lapses in North Korea, Libya and other countries that ...
