And the jurors are South Carolina voters who on Tuesday will decide the future of former trial lawyer John Edwards Esq.
The first-term North Carolina senator could see his meteoric political career come crashing to Earth if he loses his neighboring state. In an all or nothing move, Edwards forwent a Senate re-election to pursue the presidency.
"I don't set expectations," Edwards told reporters when asked about his prospects in South Carolina and the six other states voting Tuesday. "That's what you guys do."
