COLUMBIA, SC _ The Rev. Al Sharpton transformed the democratic candidate forum at Township Auditorium into a down-home church service Friday.
The crowd that numbered close to 4,000 was ready, even eager for the reverend's message and responded to his presence on stage with calls to "preach."
Here in South Carolina, Sharpton is taking every opportunity to spread his gospel of strongly influencing the Democratic platform at its convention in Boston this summer _ a strategy that hinges on him garnering a lion's share of the black vote in Tuesday's primary.
