HOUSTON _ This time, there was no storybook ending.
The Carolina Panthers, who had the most dramatic two-year turnaround in NFL history, came up short in their quest for another thrilling victory.
After making a habit of winning close games with rallies during the regular season, there was no miracle for the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII on Sunday night.
Instead, it was the New England Patriots who provided the late drama, winning their second Super Bowl in three seasons.
Adam Vinatieri made a 41-yard field goal with 4 seconds left, giving New England a 32-29 victory in front of 71,525 fans at Reliant Stadium. Vinatieri also made a late field goal to give the Patriots a victory against St. Louis in Super Bowl XXXVI.
As well as the Panthers made the impossible turn possible during the regular season, four seconds weren't enough for another rally.
