SAN JOSE, Calif. _ USA Track & Field officials agreed Sunday to release documents in a 5-year-old case that has recently sullied the image of the American Olympic movement.

Bowing to threats of a loss of funds and decertification, track officials sent a letter Sunday to the U.S. Olympic Committee saying they would hand over the appeals decision that allowed Jerome Young to compete at the 2000 Olympics.

"This is a significant step and it is a step in the right direction," USOC spokesman Darryl Seibel said.
