HOUSTON _ While Richard Dent's wait continues, two players he spent part of his career chasing were voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Denver quarterback John Elway and Detroit running back Barry Sanders were elected in their first year of eligibility.

The long wait ended for Minnesota defensive end Carl Eller and offensive tackle Bob Brown, whose career was split among the Eagles, Rams and Raiders.

In his first year among the 15 finalists, Dent made Saturday's cut to 10 in balloting by a 39-member national media panel. Now that Eller is in, Dent's candidacy should be stronger next year because he has moved ahead of the other defensive end …
