May 16--Ray Smith doesn't travel many places without riding his used 10-speed-bicycle.

He pedals to work, to aerobics class after work and then home.

He rode his bike and BART on Thursday, the ninth annual Bike to Work Day, from his Livermore home to a Walnut Creek hospital to help his father check in for surgery.

"I think more people don't ride bicycles in the Bay Area because people here are always in such a rush," said the 47-old maintenance technician at the Lawrence Livermore Lab "Bicycling is a stress reducer. You feel so good after …
