May 10--GROTON, Conn.--When Electric Boat President Michael W. Toner steps onto the stage at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine today to receive an honorary doctorate and give the commencement speech, he'll be addressing 34 of his own employees.

In the crowd will be the first 18 graduates from the EB associate's degree program, which began in December 1999, as well as 16 students from Bath Iron Works -- Toner is also executive vice president of General Dynamics' Marine Systems division, which includes the Maine shipyard.
