`The Gin Game' gets a lift from its stars.

It was on the air for only five seasons nearly four decades ago, but "The Dick Van Dyke Show" turned Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore into television icons. As Rob and Laura Petrie, they were America's favorite young marrieds, and the connection between the two actors was so magical that it was just assumed that they would star together in something once their first series ended.
But it didn't turn out that way. Thirty-seven years would go by before the two actors _ so closely linked in viewers' minds _ acted together again.
It should be said that the reunion of Van Dyke and Moore _ in PBS's new version of "The Gin Game" ...
