RAFHA, Saudi Arabia _ Inside a sprawling refugee camp just south of the Iraq border, artwork at the camp school tells of a country most of the young artists know only through stories from their parents.
One, showing a giant teardrop under a palm tree, is entitled, "A tear for my country." Another depicts Saddam Hussein, astride a horse and dressed like a cowboy, symbolically shooting his people. Still others show scenes of Iraq's fabled rivers and ancient landmarks.
For the 5,088 Iraqis who live in this desolate enclave, with little to see but empty desert, home is only six miles to the north. Yet, for more than a decade, Iraq has remained out of reach, existing only in memory.
