ST. PAUL _ David and Nancy Warner wanted a house with "lots of character, with hardwood floors, with lots of built-ins." In other words, a bungalow.
They found their house in the Merriam Park neighborhood of St. Paul, one of several areas with bunches of bungalows. David Warner, an architect at SALA Architects, immediately began planning to make the kitchen both more modern and more old-fashioned. He added stainless steel appliances, but got rid of a previous remodeling job that had imposed acoustical ceiling tiles and vinyl flooring.
