With Cordiant Communications Group, the world's ninth-largest advertising company, watching clients virtually running away, attention is now turning to who might be a likely suitor, or whether the parent of struggling Bates Worldwide and other ad agencies will have to sell itself off piecemeal.
London-based Cordiant, weighed down by debt and a massive loss of clients, said Tuesday it has been approached by potential suitors. The disclosure came one day after it announced it had lost another major global client, Allied Domecq, sending its shares spiraling and casting doubt on its ability to remain independent.
