CORAL GABLES, Fla. _ The waters appear calm for the Miami football program.

In a joint statement released Tuesday, coach Larry Coker, quarterbacks coach Dan Werner, quarterback Derrick Crudup Jr. and his father, Derrick Crudup Sr., said race was not an issue in deciding that Florida transfer Brock Berlin would be UM's starter heading into the fall ahead of Crudup.

The announcement came a day after a 75-minute meeting was held to discuss allegations made Saturday by the Crudups that the integrity of the quarterback competition was compromised by what they felt were racially insensitive comments made by Werner.
