Apr. 29--Whether US Airways stays or goes, officials must find ways to lower costs at Pittsburgh International Airport, Allegheny County Chief Executive Jim Roddey said yesterday.
Talking to reporters during a break in meetings, Roddey said the airport must position itself to be more competitive, either to retain US Airways or to attract competing carriers should US Airways pull out of Pittsburgh.
"I think we need to try to get our costs down, whether it's US Airways or attracting JetBlue or Southwest Airlines. They all will make a decision about coming in here based on what routes they can pick up, how profitable they are and what our cost structure is," he said.
