Apr. 18--Dr. Robert C. Atkins, the best-selling weight loss guru whose unorthodox ideas motivated millions and challenged dietary gospel, had at last been enjoying some support from the medical community.
Though his pro-cheeseburger/anti-bun approach once was considered bizarre and potentially dangerous, some recent studies had begun to validate the controversial principles he advocated.
Atkins, 72, died Thursday in New York Weill-Cornell Medical Center.
