Apr. 3--The San Luis Obispo business community is clearly concerned that tourism revenues could be wilting instead of blooming this spring.
Hotel tax figures won't be available for several months, but anecdotal evidence shows a downturn on several fronts, according to the Chamber of Commerce "e-insider" newsletter distributed Wednesday.
Car rentals to and from San Luis Obispo are down. Business travel is off. And even toilet paper sales to motels and restaurants are lower than usual in a city that relies so heavily on tourism for revenue and jobs.
