We've been toying with cool, LCD-screen-based portable devices _ the hippest little game machine and a most versatile new PC.
GAME BOY ADVANCES: Nintendo's Game Boy portable gaming systems have had a major impact on world culture, selling 143 million hardware units and more than 500 million games since the first model came out in 1989.
These machines have had their critics, though. Parents objected to the lack of rechargeable batteries, which boosted the cost of operating the unit and sent a bad environmental message.
