Mar. 20--With war starting, air travel down and gasoline prices soaring, local tourism officials are trying to coax travelers back into their cars with an offer to help pay for their gas.
From April 1 through June 30, at least two-dozen hotels around the county will be offering to take from $10 to $35 off the price of a room per visit in exchange for a guest's gas receipt and a Web site coupon. The "Go SLO Gas Deal" is not valid on weekend stays, holidays or special events, but does apply Sundays through Thursdays.
