PISCATAWAY, N.J. _ The scouting report was wrong. The numbers may have been accurate, but they had no bearing on reality as Notre Dame experienced it Saturday at Rutgers.
The scouting report said Rutgers was the lowest-scoring team in the Big East and the least efficient offensively. It said Rutgers shot less than 33 percent from the three-point line.
Jerome Coleman, it said, was even worse, a 28 percent three-point shooter, less than 35 percent overall.
"I was shocked to see his percentage," said Irish point guard Chris Thomas said. "I know how well he can shoot."
Now, so does everybody else.
Playing in front of a sellout crowd at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, Coleman put on a show worthy of the brightest of lights, scoring 27 points in Rutgers' 95-82 upset of ninth-ranked Notre Dame.
