KISSIMMEE, Fla. _ Here, players check their egos at the door.
Welcome to the Houston Astros' clubhouse, where discord and infighting rarely, if ever, exist.
Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Shane Reynolds and Billy Wagner serve as the alpha males, but they exert their influence by example. These blue-collar guys just go about their work, and the team's younger players pick up their vibe by osmosis.
This must be the least dysfunctional clubhouse in the major leagues.
The new guy, Jeff Kent, believes he'll do just fine here.
"There's a veteran character and personality, if you will, to this clubhouse," Kent said. "You just kind of assume your role and play hard and, if you do, then you won't get anybody biting on your butt."
