COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. _ Lloyd Ward appeared Friday night to be prepared to resign as the U.S. Olympic Committee's chief executive officer, The Colorado Springs Gazette has learned.
If Ward resigns, it would put an end to more than two months of controversy ranging from ethics violations to travel expenditures and management practices.
Ward's membership at Augusta National Golf Club also remains an issue with some in the Olympic movement. Augusta does not have any women members and has resisted calls to open its membership.
Ward could not be reached for comment Friday night.
