CARLSBAD, Calif. _ All eyes were on Phil Mickelson again Friday, including a new, expert pair.

Butch Harmon, thrown off the Tiger Woods gravy train last summer, was next to Mickelson on the practice tee at La Costa, watching the swings that launch a thousand sighs.

Mickelson isn't commenting on this alliance, which began about two weeks ago. It isn't exactly Liza Doolittle and Prof. Henry Higgins, but it should be interesting, since Harmon took apart Woods and put him back together in time for the Tiger Slam, and also tuned up Greg Norman for his first major championship, the `86 British Open.

Then Mickelson went to the first tee against Jerry Kelly, in the third round of the World Match Play Championship ... and, by Jove, I don't think he's got it.

He looked like the same old Lefty in his 3 and 2 ...
