You've met Alicia. But let me properly introduce her.

She was born Alicia Esther Larde in El Salvador's capital of San Salvador, where she was raised in a beautiful villa surrounded by servants.

Hers was a family of professors, lawyers, writers, and doctors; members of the intelligentsia of El Salvador with connections to high-level military officials and even presidents themselves. They spoke French, Spanish and English, traveling around the world and studying abroad.

Her paternal ancestors were wine growers from Champagne, France, who fled during the Revolution to America, and then to Central America, where they became hoteliers and the owners of a cotton-growing hacienda in San Salvador.
