The U.S. Energy Department, in promoting its plan for a nuclear-waste repository in Nevada, has sent out a thick envelope that includes dozens of newspaper editorial encomia to the idea of putting the nation's chief nuclear-waste repository in Yucca Mountain, Nev. Only two are from Nevada, both from the Valley Times of Pahrump, one from 1974 and the other from 1983. That shows how long the idea has been around.
