BUFFALO _ The effort was there. The shots were there. The only thing missing, once again, were the goals.
The Flyers' late-season nosedive continued last night at HSBC Arena, where the Buffalo Sabres handed them a 3-1 loss with some help from the officials.
It was the Flyers' third loss in a row, the first time they have dropped three straight under coach Bill Barber.
"We had quality shots and (Martin) Biron came up big," Barber said of the Buffalo goalie's 34 saves. "Our guys worked hard tonight. We should have been rewarded."
For the third straight game the Flyers also lost a chance to regain the top seed in the Eastern Conference, since Boston was idle. They could have tied the Bruins in points, and would have had the tiebreaker edge on ...
