ATLANTA _ Too small. Too weak.

That's what most college basketball evaluators thought of Juan Dixon five years ago. A native of Baltimore, Dixon was signed by Maryland after Terrapins coach Gary Williams watched Dixon play in high school.

``Coach Williams took a chance on me,'' Dixon said. ``We proved a lot of people wrong and won a national championship.''

And Monday night, that chance turned into a championship. Dixon, a 6-foot-3, 165-pound guard, capped a marvelous NCAA Tournament run by scoring 18 points to lead the Terps past gritty Indiana, 64-52, in the national championship game. Dixon was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player ...
